Violent Games

Louisiana politicians have been discussing a violent video games ban.

I agree, some games are just not appropriate. I know of one game, targetted specifically at young men, containing realistic violence and accurate lethal weapons training. Kids can download this game for free and learn how to slaughter human opponents with assault weapons. The game doesn't even disguise itself -- it boasts being a recruiting and training tool for a violent organization, one that many countries say poses a threat to world peace. If we ban violent video games, we surely must put restrictions on this one.

(I hate election years)

The problem with violent games is not so much that they exist, but that parents are just idiots. I can't tell you how many times Michael has been in a game store and some parents have come up asking him for advice about a game for their kid, holding some game with a M rating, not even knowing the rating was there. He's had to explain to countless moms what the rating are and why they're there. Everybody knows about ratings on movies, but most parents don't bother to inform themselves about games. Just my 2 cents worth.
